Golf Rules

Your thoughtfulness and consideration of our course and of your fellow members will continue to make Wichita Falls Country Club the outstanding golf club in the area. To ensure the proper course care, usage, and safety, and to allow our members the fullest enjoyment of our course, your Board of Governors has established the following Rules and Regulations:

  • All members and guests must check in with the Golf Shop before playing.
  • Play not starting on Hole #1 must have permission from the Golf Shop.

  1. A member must be present to play with a guest except for an immediate family member, house guest, and reciprocal play. The conduct of the guest is the responsibility of the member. Members of reciprocating clubs may play the course by prearrangement through their Club Professional or Club Manager.
  2. Guest fees are as prescribed by the Board of Governors.
  3. The same individual may be a guest only six times per year. A visiting houseguest may be granted a reasonable extension of this rule.
  4. For each round of golf, Wichita Falls Country Club non-golf (Clubhouse) members will be charged the applicable non-member guest fee as well as the standard cart fee. Clubhouse members may play up to twelve rounds of golf per year.
  5. Local and visiting PGA and LPGA members are welcome to play the course at the discretion of the Head Golf Professional.
All adult members may start/keep a handicap in the Golf Shop by becoming a member of the MGA or WGA. The handicap is one of the many benefits of MGA/WGA membership in addition to tournaments and other activities, weekly GOLF email updates and club and course improvements. Dependent members may start/keep a handicap by purchasing the Annual Handicap Fee in the Golf Shop. All players with handicaps must turn in EVERY scorecard to the Golf Shop for the computation of the handicaps. Please include the following information on the scorecard: date, tees played and full name or membership number. The Handicap Committee will monitor the handicap system and has the right to alter any handicap.
Starting times can be reserved by members three days in advance.

Groups of more than five players MUST be approved by the Golf Professional. Groups of three, four, and five have priority on the course. Single players and twosomes may play at any time but must join other players to form a threesome, foursome or five some if course conditions warrant this action by the Club Professional.

Practice is permitted only on the practice range, putting green, the practice chipping green area; these areas are available to all membership levels.  The Golf Shop should be notified prior to usage.

RANGE BALLS ARE FOR USE ON THE PRACTICE RANGE & CHIPPING GREEN AREAS ONLY.

Hitting more than three shots from any one place while on the golf course is considered practice and not allowed.

A group of 11 players to 24 players, without a member in each group and that is not a regular activity of Wichita Falls Country Club, is considered an outing. Normal guest fees apply (no guest fees for members). Groups of over 24 players, or requiring more than 6 tee times, is considered to be a tournament, and is subject to the normal tournament regulations and contracts. Tournaments and outings must be recommended by the Golf Committee, approved by the Board of Governors, and scheduled with the General Manager.

The Golf Professional or Superintendent shall determine when course conditions restrict play or require changes to acceptable use of carts.

Members, guests, and visitors must be properly attired at all times when using the course and practice areas. Men shall wear collared shirts with sleeves at all times on the golf course as required. Men's shirts must be tucked in at all times unless cut in a style to be worn outside (Hawaiian, sweaters & shirts with a band at the bottom). Tennis shoes are permitted. Denim pants (so-called "jeans") of all types and designs in good condition are permitted. All the following types of clothing are prohibited on the golf course: cutoffs, bathing suits, baggy cargo shorts, running-shorts; t shirts, tank tops, sweat pants and sweatshirts (unless they are designed for golf) are not permitted. Flip flops and bare feet are not permitted. Cargo shorts in good condition are acceptable. Hats must be worn forward at all times.
From time to time, a Player Services Associate representing the Golf & Grounds Committee and the Board of Governors, shall monitor and enforce Club rules and golf course policy. It is the responsibility of the member to know the golf rules. The Golf & Grounds Committee will issue a warning letter for the first violation and a $25.00 fine for the second violation. Further violations or a blatant disregard of the rules will be taken to the Board of Governors for further action including suspension of golf privileges or expulsion from the Club.

Parents are responsible for the conduct of the junior golfer on the golf course and are responsible for acquainting the junior golfer with the Golf Rules. Junior golfers under the age of 18 may not tee off before 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays without permission from the Golf Shop.

Players with physical disabilities who have difficulty walking long distances from the cart to their ball will be granted leniency in observing cart path rules. The Golf & Grounds Committee will determine the areas where leniency will be granted. The Golf Shop will monitor who is granted leniency. The exception will not apply when the golf course cart policy is CART PATH ONLY.

As members and their guests move around the course, please keep in mind that the overarching principle in golf is CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS. Please leave the
course better than you found it, maintain a reasonable pace pf play and let faster players through (no matter how small or large the group), and HAVE FUN!
